The IMOS Foundation has worked on a number of initiatives involving the countries of Europe. The Romney Marsh is well placed geographically to offer a welcoming face to visitors from the continent. This is particularly relevant now that we have formally left our membership of the European Union.

A Portrait of Europe

In 2013 and 2014 in a gesture of warm hearted fellowship to our compatriots in the EU British artists were sent, one to each country, to paint an individual from that country. The result is an extraordinary exhibition that tethers the notion of Europe to its people. It enables visitors to discover and think more deeply about the shared heritage of Europe and to develop a deeper sense of their own European identity.
