The IMOS Foundation has been commissioning artists to paint murals in New Romney. Under the overall concept of A Celebration of Romney Marsh, artists Elena Priestley, Sue Randle, Dee Taylor, Ryan Orme, Victoria Fontaine Wolf, Maria Priestley, James Marsh, Phillippa Goddard, Terry Goddard, Ali Stump, Paula MacArthur, Peter Burgess and others have planned and carried out various works.
Some of the details of the murals are pictured here. The mural habit has spread to neighbouring Folkestone where at least three magnificent works are on display. After nearly fifteen years the murals are showing their age. Some restorations are ongoing but of the twenty originally completed three have already been removed.
